i use film, video, sculpture, installation, photography, and performance to poetically meditate on how knowledge we possess about ourselves, our environments, and each other is established through images, particularly old family photos, and how these images are sites of .
the tendency is to interpret media images as if they can in a literal sense be read...certain family images especially my mother's still haunt me...recently reconstructing those that do using my own portrait has been a way for me to enter that perceptual gap...this project uses photography and performance in an attempt to recreate that environment.
